Meet the Girls
Kat - Marda Loop, YYC
Founder | Hype Girl | Therapist Friend (literally)
With 11 years of experience and a knack for making everyone feel at home, Kat started Waxed. by Kat back in university and hasn’t stopped perfecting her craft since. Equal parts bubbly and hard-working, she’s all about good vibes, great chats, and creating a space where every body and belief is welcome. When she’s not busy giving flawless waxes, Kat’s diving into astrology, human design, and working towards becoming a psychotherapist. Now, she’s bringing her passion and expertise to Calgary—ready to help you feel confident, smooth, and totally at ease.
Kyla - Sutherland, YXE
Waxer | Gardener | Ray of Sunshine
When she’s not busy making people laugh and feeling at ease in the studio, Kyla’s chasing after her kids, her dog Samson, and her next big garden project (some know her as “The Crazy Sunflower Lady”). A full-time mom and outdoor enthusiast, she’s all about swimming, running sand hills, and soaking up nature—rain or shine. With her calming personality, 10+ years of experience, and love for a good joke, Kyla turns every appointment into a fun and comfortable experience.
Salena - Sutherland, YXE
Waxer | Adventurer | Brow Magician
A nature lover with a soft spot for horror movies, Greek mythology, and lifting heavy things, Salena brings a bold yet down-to-earth vibe to the studio. When she’s not perfecting brows or cracking jokes with clients, she’s off hiking the trails of southwestern Canada—or exploring Vancouver Island’s mossy forests. A proud cat mom to Lily and Cullen and a true crime junkie, Salena has spent nearly a decade making people feel confident and comfortable in their skin—and loving every minute!
No awkward questions - Just answers!
Before your appointment:
1. How long should my hair be before waxing?
We recommend about ¼ inch (as long as a grain of rice) for the best results—long enough for the wax to grab, but not too long to cause discomfort.
2. How should I prep for my appointment?
Exfoliate gently 24–48 hours beforehand and avoid lotions or oils on the day of your appointment. And wear comfy clothes—you’ll thank us later!
3. Does waxing hurt?
Let’s be real—there’s a little sting, but it’s quick and totally manageable. Plus, we’re pros at keeping you distracted with good chats and laughs!
4. Can I get waxed during my period?
Absolutely! Just wear a tampon or menstrual cup. Keep in mind you might feel a bit more sensitive during this time.
5. Can I get waxed if I’m pregnant?
Yes! Waxing while pregnant is completely safe. Just let us know if you need any extra comfort during your appointment.
After your appointment:
6. How do I care for my skin after waxing?
Keep it clean, cool, and hydrated. Avoid heat, sweating, and tight clothes for 24–48 hours—and no exfoliating until day three!
7. How long will my wax last?
You’ll be smooth for about 3–4 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle. The more you wax - the longer your results!
8. What if I get redness or bumps?
Totally normal and temporary! Use a soothing serum like Aloe Vera or Witch Hazel and avoid touching the area too much.
Other questions:
9. What if I’m nervous or it’s my first time?
We totally get it—most people feel that way at first. But we’re pros at making you feel comfortable and we’ll walk you through everything step-by-step.
10. Can I wax if I have sensitive skin?
Yes! Let us know if you have any allergies or sensitivities, and we’ll use products designed for delicate skin.
11. What’s the difference between a bikini wax and a Brazilian?
A bikini wax cleans up the sides and top, while a Brazilian wax removes all (or almost all) of the hair in the front and back. Your choice!
12. How often should I wax?
Every 4–6 weeks is ideal to keep your skin smooth and hair growth minimal.
13. What if I have more questions?
We’ve got you covered! Reach out anytime or ask us during your appointment—we’re here to help.
